I want to apply a distributed triangular load at the ground surface. What is the best way to define an increasing load along the X-direction? The “zone face apply” command applies uniform load but I want to gradually increase it from 0 to for example 1000 psf.

There are switches that you can use with `zone face apply` command. The ones that may work for you are `gradient` and `vary` ( see docs for the command at the bottom of the page). If applying triangular distribution, you may need to issue 2 commands, one for increasing and one for decreasing.

Thank you for the response. Is there a good way of imposing differential settlements to the top surface in the Z-direction instead of varied load at the ground surface?
