Magnitude of rotation of balls

Hi there,

I am trying to quantify the ball rotation or change in ball orientation during an interface shear test.

The objective is to create a plot of rotation magnitude (in radians) along the sample height to identify shear localization. In the past, I have used “ball list attribute xx” as I had the saved states during shear. I tried exporting Euler angles and the spin of the balls, but I do not get plausible results. What would be the best method to implement this? I would appreciate your suggestions.

Dear Anjali, This is David Potyondy. I am working with a graduate student at University of Utah who wishes to also quantify rotation during a shear test. It is not as simple as we had originally thought. There is a chain of emails in which we discuss this issue with Matt Purvance, one of the primary PFC developers.
