P2Psand undrained hollow cylinder cyclic torsional test

Hi FLAC 3D,

I’m attempting to replicate the results of Cheng and Detournay (2021) on undrained hollow cylinder cyclic torsional tests on Toyoura Sand, with a relative density $\D_r=48%$ and an effective confining pressure $p’=100$ kPa. I’m using the code available online, which is also attached to this message. I’m using the model parameters shown in Table 1 for Toyoura sand. However, I am unable to achieve the exact results as presented in the paper. I believe the $z_{max}$ seem to be low and should be higher. Has anyone attempted to replicate these results, or am I missing something?

You are right—the z_max should be higher. Table 1 in the paper may be missing an input in the row for z_max and the column for Toyoura sand: 121.6*dr0^4.1, or a note should be added for clarification for this example.

My rerun in FLAC3D v9 still seems to produce the same results as presented. However, please take note of the disclaimer below for other examples.
