I frequently encounter cam clay: yield envelop not reached error while modeling soil as modified cam clay. All the parameters of the cam clay soil is properly calibrated, so not possible to change. Hence, I was trying to get rid of this error and then the only way I found was by reducing the fluid modulus from 2e8 to around 2e6. This helped the effective stress to increase by reducing the excess pore water pressure, so I am modeling my case like this? I have studied that fluid modulus can be adjusted as in real cases there may be air voids in soil. Can you shed some light into this? If I cannot change other parameters, what shall I do to get rid of this particular error? I tried gradual application of load and refining the mesh as well. But only fluid modulus change helped me get rid of that error…Further, is there other parameter of the cam clay soil that you think I should change by keep the fluid modulus to its real value.
