Meshing issue (Embankment on pile supported sub-soil)

Hi everyone, I am trying to create embankment model on pile -supported soil.
Since, I could not create regular mesh by creating geometry of embankment and pile-supported sub-soil at once as shown in figure, I created embankment and sub-soil geometry separately and attach them by face at the bottom of embankment and top of sub-soil, but I could not see connection between embankment and sub-soil due to which I am getting different results in my analysis. I am assuming it could be because the load from the embankment is not uniformly transmitted to the sub-soil because of the meshing issue.

Can you provide me any alternative to solve such kind of issue?

Hello, Newuser

From the post and images provided, I cannot see which mesh you tried to use. If it is the top mesh, mesh quality is rather poor and it should be improved by increasing number of zones in horizontal direction. If it is the bottom mesh, obviously, one layer is not meshed and this will not work for the analysis. You also mentioned that you tried to use attach conditions, and it is not clear for which geometry you did it. If you did for the bottom mesh, this will not work due to a large gap - zones need to be nearly in contact to be attached.

With all this, I can say that the bottom mesh quality looks good and you just need to mesh the bottom embankment layer. If you are unable to create mesh there, this means something is wrong with the edges, you need to examine them. Currently, Sketch has a bug where it allows duplicate/overlapping edges and this prevents meshing. This may be your case. You need to check if there are any duplicate edges (specifically on the sides of the unmeshed layer) - select an edge and delete it, if you still see the edge in place, it means it was duplicated. In any case, this bug is fixed now and the fix will be available in the next update (or one after the next).
