Servo gain and strain rate for triaxial test simulations

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a proper guidline on how to find reasonable values for strain rate and servo gain. I would like to perform a triaxial test on a particle assembly using the rrlinear contact model. I know about this example case (Genesis and Testing of a Soft-Bonded Material — PFC 7.0 documentation) but the strain rate (1) seems large. Is this justified here and why? Does anyone know the good working routine here. The model should be used for the simulation of triaxial tests on sand - these are done quasi static. Cheers Mussie

Dear Mussie,
You ask about strain rate, and servo gain. As for strain rate, please see Section 5.4 Loading Rate in the Material Modeling Support for PFC memo (mmSupport[9.3].pdf). As for servo gain, it need only be adjusted if there are many new contacts forming with the wall (see Section 3.10.5 Controlling Wall Velocity to Maintain Specified Stress) in p3d247.pdf.
